Taino Bay Redux

Our final port call was a familiar one to Maria and me. We had visited Puerto Plata in February 2024 as part of our Celebrity Reflection cruise. It was a lovely family-oriented port and we were sure that Sarah, Dave, and the kids would love it.

Here we are sailing into Taino Bay with Puerto Plata in the background.

The mountains make a nice backdrop to the port.

On the port side, there was a nice view of the Caribbean.

We got off the ship and walked down the pier. We were not quite ready for a golf cart ride as yet.

A familiar sight (and site) awaited us.

They really have done a nice job at this port of call.

It was pretty hot, but nowhere near as sultry as it had been in La Romana. The nice breeze kept the heat at bay.

Probably my nicest photo of Liberty of the Seas. I think this one will be used for computer wallpaper.

It wasn’t long before we saw the Lazy River.

Looks like Teddy has found it as well.

Here come Dave and the girls.

And finally, Sarah made her way down the river.

A good time was had by all.

The gardens with the ship in the background. Last time we visited, a Norwegian ship was docked here, so we couldn’t see our ship very well.

Dave and Teddy enjoying themselves poolside.

They certainly knew how to keep their cool.

Nonna decided to cool off he feet in the water.

Back at the beachfront, I got one last photo of Liberty of the Seas.

Nonna waited in the shade while I did my photography stuff.

This colorful fellow was enjoying a shady spot as well.

After a little more souvenir shopping we headed back to the ship.

A little time to relax on the balcony before the sailaway.

A closer view of the San Filipe cathedral in downtown Puerto Plata.

Our sailaway took us past the ancient Fortaleza de San Felipe.

A look back at the town as we head out into the Caribbean Sea.

It was another lovely port day. We were back at sea for a couple more days before we got back to Cape Liberty. More to come!
