We’ve been through a few with Sarah – sacraments of initiation,4 levels of academic ceremonies, domestic and international travel, marriage, motherhood – just to name a few. There was a time when I wasn’t sure I’d see them all, but I’m glad I did.
Now she’s celebrating passages with her own kids. In the words of Al Stewart:
I felt the beat of my mind go
Drifting into time passages
Years go falling in the fading light.
Well through it all there has been one constant vibe, and that is her unfailing optimism and faith – in God, in the future, in her friends and family.
Sarah keeps busy – no question about that. She is well into her Masters in Pastoral Studies at Aquinas Institute – St. Louis. She’s gotten high marks and scholarships along the way. So it looks like another academic celebration won’t be far off.
She had a first career in science and human resources, and it appears that something theological will be her next step. Whatever she does will be a step forward in faith, and I wish her a happy birthday tomorrow and best wishes for whatever future challenges are in store. God bless and keep you.
